A brochure is a popular printed marketing tool and a great way to showcase your products or services to new customers, or advertise new products or services to existing customers. It’s important to create a brochure that both grabs your audience’s attention and leaves a lasting impression. These are our top 5 tips for creating a professional printed brochure that stands out in a crowd.
-
Bespoke Shape and Size
Firstly, choosing a bespoke shape and size is a great way to ensure your brochure stands out and leaves a lasting impression. For example a square brochure, sized 210mm x 210mm could be a great shape that helps your brochure stand out from other brochures.

Attention-Grabbing and Engaging Copy
Brochure copywriting needs to engage your target audience and persuade them to buy your products/services. Your brochure should have an attention grabbing headline which makes the reader want to read on. It should make it really clear to the readers what it is you are trying to show them. The headline should be short, simple and to the point. If it’s too long or uses complex words or jargon it can immediately disengage the reader.
Next, it’s important to consider who your target audience are and only include the details that they will be concerned about. You don’t want to include so much information that it’s boring to read, so think about the main points and be concise.
Then you need to consider how you will persuade the reader to buy your products/services. To do this, you need to show the reader that you understand their problems. Then, you can discuss the benefits of your product/service, and how your product/service will help the reader to overcome their problems. Features inform your customer, but benefits and emotions such as pain points and problems will help you to sell.
Adding a call to action can also help to persuade your readers. A call to action is a desired outcome that you want, such as buying a product, or signing up for an email newsletter. Make sure your call to action is obvious on the page.
Finally, it’s important to remember that brochures should get the information across to your target audience in a visually appealing way. To do this, use short sentences, short paragraphs, bullet points and high-quality images/ graphics to get your points across.

Design and Images
Another important part of a brochure is it’s design. Creating a visually appealing design is a great way to grab your audience's attention, and stand out from the crowd. The design of your brochure should use your branding colours and fonts, and high-quality images that relate to the copy on the page. Did you know that the human brain processes images 60,000x faster than text, so images are a great way to get your brochure seen and remembered!

Choosing a High-Quality Paper Weight
Your brochure's paper weight is an important decision which will impact the overall quality of your final printed brochure. When your reader first opens up your brochure, the paper weight can be one of the first things that they notice and can create a perception about your brand and your products/services.
A low paper weight can look quite flimsy, low quality and it can rip quite easily. If you want your brochure to look high quality and professional, a heavier paper weight would be recommended. You can also choose for the cover page to be a different weight, so slightly thicker, than the inside pages. If you need any help with selecting the right paper weight for your brochure printing, the print experts at Pink Print are always on hand to assist you.

Choosing a High-Quality Finish
There are a number of different finishes which you can add to your brochure to help it stand out and leave a lasting impression. Firstly, a popular finish for brochures is lamination which is a finishing process that binds a super-fine plastic coating to your print to provide a high quality finish, and to protect your print from general wear and tear. There are three main types of lamination textures to choose from: matt lamination which is a smooth, no-shine finish, gloss lamination which is a high-shine finish and soft-touch lamination which is a luxurious matt finish that is soft to touch.
Another finish you can choose for your printed brochure is Spot UV Varnish. Spot UV Varnish adds a varnish to a certain area, such as a logo or specific text, which makes the area shiny and slightly raised. This is a great way to subtly draw focus to a particular part of the brochure cover.
Foiling is another great finish which can really grab your reader's attention and help your brochure to stand out. Foiling involves adding a gold or silver shiny sheet to the areas such as a background pattern, your logo, icons etc.
Finally, another great finish is embossing which makes certain areas, such as your logo or certain text, raised (or 3D) to subtly accentuate them. This not only enhances the look of your brochure cover, but also the texture.
