What are the different types of brochure binding?

There are several different types of brochure binding that you can choose from, and each one is suited best to different purposes.

Saddle-stitched booklet

Saddle-stitched booklets are a low-cost and highly effective binding, whether the pages are 'stitched' together with a wire along the spine of the brochure. This binding method works great for product manuals, company newsletters, and short product/service catalogues

Perfect Bound Brochure

A perfect bound brochure is whether the pages of the brochure are glued together with a strong glue. This method creates a long-lasting, professional-looking booklet with clean 'perfect' edges. This binding method is perfect for product catalogues or magazines.

Wiro-bound Booklet

A wiro-bound booklet is whether the pages are fastened together with a spiral wire. This binding allows the booklet to lay flat on a table which is great if you need to write in it. It is the ideal binding choice for notebooks, workbooks, manuals or even presentations/professional reports.

What are the different types of finishes for a brochure?

Lamination

A popular finish for brochures is lamination. This is a finishing process that binds a super-fine plastic coating to your print to provide a high-quality finish, and to protect your print from general wear and tear. There are three main types of lamination textures to choose from: matt lamination which is a smooth, no-shine finish, gloss lamination which is a high-shine finish and soft-touch lamination which is a luxurious matt finish that is soft to touch.

Spot UV Varnish

Spot UV Varnish adds a varnish to a certain area, such as a logo or specific text, which makes the area shiny and slightly raised. This is a great way to subtly draw focus to a particular part of the brochure cover.

Foiling

Foiling involves adding a gold or silver shiny sheet to the areas such as a background pattern, your logo, icons etc.

Embossing

Embossing makes certain areas, such as your logo or certain text, raised (or 3D) to subtly accentuate them. This not only enhances the look of your brochure cover, but also the texture.
